If you’re trying to keep clients happy, you’ve got to maintain your dental office properly. This includes keeping your air conditioner in good working order.
If your air conditioner is not working, there are a handful of things that might be wrong with it. Here are five common AC problems you should be on the lookout for.
1. Refrigerant Leaks
Your air conditioner uses refrigerants to cool the air it sends into your office. If refrigerant is leaking from your unit, you may not be experiencing that cooler air you’re hoping for.
You may simply need more refrigerant if your AC wasn’t properly filled to begin with. But if you have a leak, you’ll need to get it repaired.
2. A Dirty Filter
The filter in your AC unit helps keep the air clean and safe to breathe. It traps particles that fly through the air, so you’ll need to change it from time to time. The Williams Service Company has a post about why air filters should be cleaned often.
If the air flow from your air conditioner seems to be weaker than usual, you may have a clogged filter. Ideally, filters should be replaced monthly or more often if you constantly run your AC.
3. Electrical Issues
If your air conditioner isn’t working, you may have an electrical issue. The circuitry may be damaged or your AC may not be getting enough power.
Call an engineer to check the circuits and electrical hookups for you. Checking them on your own can be dangerous.
4. Thermostat Problems
Your thermostat is what tells your AC when to turn on and off. If it isn’t working properly, your AC won’t turn on or off when it should.
If your office is feeling too cold or too warm, you may have a thermostat issue. Call an HVAC technician and have them check it out.
You may also want to check to make sure your thermostat’s batteries are still functioning. The fix may be as simple as that!
5. Compressor Failure
Your AC’s compressor sends refrigerant through coils in order to cool your office. If the compressor isn’t working, the air coming from your AC won’t be cool.
The compressor may fail due to too little or too much refrigerant, so it’s important to make sure your unit has the right amount of refrigerant at all times.
